How @Outlander_STARZ has helped me heal from sexual abuse.

TW ❤️ please stay safe
On July 1st, 2018 I became a survivor of sexual abuse. Details apart, I also almost lost my life. It was two week in the ICU which I don’t even remember.
After being born again, a lot changed within min. And silence was my motto for 2 years. Couldn’t speak up about it with friends, therapists, doctors. No one. Until something very unexpected and random made me open my eyes and decide to share and ask for help,
to try and stop this incredible shame. And that was the way Outlander portraited Claire’s abuse. And what Claire and @caitrionambalfe have meant to me for almost six years now. So yes, it’s strange and it sort of turns me into a teenager again BUT
that’s what’s been helping me heal. It’s so important to be heard, to speak up and to feel you have your feelings validated. To be told you are a f* survivor. Yeah, she’s a fictional character, but she does represent a lot to me and to many people too.
So thank you @caitrionambalfe @Writer_DG @LlaurenLyle @SamHeughan @SkeltonSophie @RikRankin and all the outlander cast and crew who chose to treat it the way they treated it. You’re helping me heal.
If you’ve read this till the end, can you help me make my message reach them?❤️+
Thank you so much for retweeting my story, Diana! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw. It really means the world to me ❤️ “thank you” isn’t enough. Really hope it can also reach @caitrionambalfe 💛💛
