My take on the Israeli/Palestine conflict- a thread
I’ll start by saying I’m an Israeli teenager who supports both Israel and Palestine and 100% thinks that the Palestinians should be free on this land and have equal rights as we do, but there are things that just aren’t up to us. ☮️
I’ll add that all my information is non-biased and it’s what actually happened to Jews in Europe and Palestine. We were in the wrong a lot but so were the Arabs who were on this land before us
I opened Twitter just to tweet this so I hope people do see this and manage to educate themselves beyond social media because most things on Instagram and Twitter are just factually wrong.
In the 19 hundreds in Europe, Jews received emancipation (equal rights), This emancipation only led to worse antisemitism in Europe, and the Jews soon understood that they aren’t wanted anywhere and they need a national home of their own
This is how the Zionism started. Herzel, a Jewish lawyer and journalist from Vienna called for Jews from all over Europe to discuss issues. He also wrote a couple of books such as “The Jewish State,”
The first congress held by Jews was when the Zionist movement began. They established targets and means to those targets. Herzel was decided to be the leader and he had diplomatic relations with Turkey, Russia, Germany, Britain, and more.
The definition of Zionism back when it began was to give Jews equal rights on a national home of their own in a legal, open way, preferably in Israel (Palestine), because of its religious and historical significance to the Jewish people.
Herzel failed trying to get the Jews Israel, and they started coming illegally on their own. Fast forward to the First World War, and the Balfour Declaration, which is basically Britain showing its support in giving the Jews a state of their own.
Many were outraged by the declaration, and many were ecstatic about it. Fast forward again to after the holocaust. Jews needed a home to return to after the tragedy, and the British mandate over Palestine didn’t allow anyone to enter the country.
After a while the UN was formed and the argument of Palestine was brought to them.
Fast forward to 29 November 1947 (you’re welcome to look it up and read about it online)
29 November 1947, Palestine partition plan was voted, and it divided the land into a 45% Arab state and a 55% Jewish state. It put Jerusalem under national jurisdiction, and it was decided that there would be financial cooperation between the two states.
The Palestinians were outraged and angry and did not want any part of it. They declared war on the few Jews in Palestine, bringing back up from Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Syria and more armies. Somehow, even though their forces were belittled-
The Jews managed to win the war and take even more land, and declared Israel as a Jewish state.
From then and up until now, many wars were fought, land has been going back and forth between Palestine and Israel, there have been pursuits of peace that were denied time and time again.
Yes, there are illegal Jewish settlements beyond our land which in my opinion must be removed, yes, there have been innocent lives lost, but there are two sides on that. There are Palestinian terrorist attacks everyday everywhere. I know people who’ve died and served in the army
I want to add that today, Israel helps as much as it can with financial aid, medicine, hospitals, protection, jobs and more. Unfortunately the media shows something completely different. The IDF is the most humanitarian army in the Middle East.
But sometimes the aid we give is taken advantage of. For example, the moment we gave up Gaza and the Gaza Strip it was taken over by a terrorist organization Hamas, who send rockets and terrorists into Israel. We give them money and they use it for weapons instead to help their-
- people. Almost all wars weren’t started by the Israeli side.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t help the fact that many Palestinians are suffering and lost their homes. Donate where you can, help as much as possible, but don’t blame Israel. We help where we can also.
I hope I managed to help a little bit, and prove that Zionism isn’t bad like the media puts it. I hope we can find peace eventually in a two state solution and not have the need to abolish each other. ☮️ Love from Israel. I’d happily talk more with anyone through DMs
