Portland police just released tear gas or smoke into a crowd and an occupied trimet bus.
Hearing it's smoke and pepperspray. Both have no place on our streets or busses. It seems like the union hall is a sensitive spot for the police. That escalated extremely fast.
This is the thread for tonight now. Our folks on the ground didn't sign up to send us messages though so this isn't going to be a complete account.
Police are escalating on Lombard. The crowd is strong! People in apartment buildings nearby are cheering the protest.
This march is now declared a riot. The PPB is telling us all to stay THE FUCK away from their "union" clubhouse. That's off limits forever. That's their safety zone. Never go there ever.
1868 N Lombard
DO NOT go near there. Police say no.
The police are teargassing a residential neighborhood. The police are putting hundreds of people at risk during a pandemic. The police are putting lives in danger right now. Because people went near their "union" hall to protest police killing Black people.
#BlackLivesMatter
Protest is reunited and moving west together!
Annnd it's a "riot" again, reasoning behind this is a mystery.
There is a lot of traffic going by between the protest and the police. Again, NOT ok to tear gas a protest, but even worse to threaten unprepared bystanders with respiratory injury and possible virus exposure.
Reports of arrests while the crowd is dispersing as instructed by the police.
Quick tip on crowd control: don't do that.
But it's not about dispersal, it's about punishment now. We got too close to the PPA "union" club house.

Sounds like people coughing after being teargassed during a respiratory pandemic.
March is at the N Police Precinct!
Immediately declared an unlawful assembly.
To recap:
Near precious clubhouse = riot
Near a precinct or "Justice" center = unlawful assembly
Please be careful of Black owned restaurant very near the precinct!
in case y'all missed this thread, a reminder of why cops are so touchy about attention paid to their union headquarters...

PPB does not want you paying attention to their union or how essential it is for them

psst, reminder: cops are not fucking workers
Third (?) journalist being arrested. Pretty sure there's some kind of rule about this. Something something shall not be infringed...something something assembly....?
We know @pdxgdc is on top of bail funds. You can help!
Your job is to tell someone about what happened tonight.
The police think if they arrest journalists the story won't go out. WRONG.
They knocked out some livestreams but guess what? We've got messages flowing in from the crowd and people that live near the protests.
The city supports this movement!

This is why we're out every night. Police brutality won't stop us from protesting police murders.
This isn't even close to over.
We have so far to go.
