@ScottMorrisonMP loves to say "The best form of welfare is a job" but the reality is that throwing millions of people into poverty is a significant barrier for them to get into work, as they also have to strongly focus on surviving, before looking for work.
This has been shown to be the reality for so many Australians currently on JobSeeker. The statements made are disingenuous and actively hurting a growing proportion of Australians.
The fact that the Liberals have been in power for more than half of my life, scares me. We shouldn't have a conservative government in control in these times of crisis, a conservative government who only looks out for the businesses, not the individual people.
Utilitarianism is not a way a country should be run. It's not a way a state should be run. It's not a way a single council should be run. We should be treating each person with compassion and treating the underlying issues surrounding poverty, not casting them all into a net and-
saying that they're all abusing a system that lies to them, that cheats, and deceives. People say can't buy happiness, but in my experience, a lot of the difficulties I face in being happy are held back because I don't have enough money.
I don't have a job right now, like hundreds of thousands of Australians. I wish I did! I wish I had something fulfilling, that worked for me! But that's generally rather difficult, if I try and find a job that fits me, instead of forcing myself to try and fit a job.
We should all have jobs that fulfill us, and that we *want* to do, and that *fits* us as people, and not have to force ourselves into jobs where we can be exploited.
