Once again, tech saviors are helping Deaf people by ... building tech that (if it actually works at the level of translation, which it doesn& #39;t) only addresses the hearing person& #39;s needs.

What would it take to get to a society where engineers stop using signed language as toys to show off motion detection systems? How do we fix the engineering (including ML) curriculum to prevent this?
