(1)I'm gonna rant a bit, this might be a thread...
So today my brother decided to bring up the topic of false rape accusations in the car on the way to our mom's house. He said it was "on [his] mind" because he was reading about the whole "Justin Bieber" fiasco..

(2).. if you don't know much about that it doesn't really matter. So he said that about 10% of rape allegations are false accusations. Now we could focus on how SMALL of a percentage that is, but I'd rather focus on how much SMALLER it would be...

(3).. if all women who ARE raped and SURVIVE actually reported it. Now, I will hit you with the facts: it is BELIEVED that only 15.8 to 35 percent of all sexual assaults are reported to police. Can you BELIEVE how small that number is, imagine if ALL women came forward...

(4).. here are some more facts: RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network) estimates that if there are 1,000 rapes, 384 are reported to police, 57 of them result in arrest, 11 are referred for prosecution, 7 result in felony conviction, and 6 are incarcerated...

(5).. how MESSED UP is that?? That a someone can be forced to have sex, engage in sexual intercourse AGAINST THEIR WILL, and even IF they report them, their rapist might not even be held accountable. I use gender neutral pronouns because ANYBODY can be raped...

(6).. did you know that 1 in 5 women and 1 in 71 men will be raped in their lifetime? And that MOST of them will not even tell anyone about it, for FEAR that something could happen to them or their loved ones because they spoke up. For FEAR that they would be laughed at...

(7).. now I could go on about the issues surrounding rape and sexual assault cases and FUCKED our justice system is, and I could give SO MANY statistics, but I'm gonna leave it. Thank you to those who took the time to read, if you want more stats check out http://RAINN.org
