RUN 106. Lots of good Jungkook tidbits in there. First real quick about Tae and Jungkook's dynamic. Obviously the photographer and the director of the team. I thought they might tag team each other when they weren't even involved in each other's shoot, and I was right-
@BTS_twt
You can see Jungkook chime in about the positioning of Tae's legs, and immediately Tae stretches to a better position. There's a trust there & a shared knowledge of beauty and lines. Tae knows what JK meant. Similarly Tae chimes in reminders when JK was photographing. @BTS_twt
While BTS all gave comments for each on how to improve their photos, I singled those two moments out because JK & V's comments are very specific, directly addressing the lines appearing in the final photograph. It pings the artist in me so I perk up haha. Speaking of lines-
When Jungkook moved outside to capture RM's concept, I thought "oh! this might be difficult!" Rooftops can be your best friend or your worst enemy, because depending on the neighborhood, they can all line up flat & thus make a boring photograph. Now JK just stood at the window-
pointed & clicked. I was super curious and the result didn't disappoint. He said himself at the end he didn't do much, but even then you can tell the artist eyes come through. Firstly houses are notoriously difficult cause you're managing multiple eye lines at once. @BTS_twt
Now I've just marked up the main lines. But see how he makes sure the lines of the roof behind RM doesn't encapsulate him but rather cuts across to break up the picture & make it more dynamic. He also incorporate the road heading out on the right so the photo isn't closed off-
making the photo function on more than one axis. In fact, Rm's outward swung legs which JK captured right on cue also helps break the stagnant 2 dimension world of a photo. And as of GCF Helsinki, you know he's a pro at managing depth of field. @BTS_twt
Below another example of Jungkook breaking the lines of the 2D world, so to speak. They were posing by the bed bars but right in the next picture, JK reaches out just above the most prominent horizontal line & breaks through the x & y axis, and gives you the z. Voila! @BTS_twt
Last but not least, I want to muse on JK's facial expressions. Suga has been a frequent & long time admirer. Undoubtedly, JK's expressions in performance have captured many a fan. I think he's naturally good at making you believe he's not acting. There's something very candid-
about his acting. If you give him a keyword, he seems to instinctually know what expression would be at the crux of that keyword but then make it SINCERE. I mean, anyone else would have a hard time just figuring out what face to actually make during a jump like this! @BTS_twt
No doubt we’ve been clamoring for actor JK. I always thought he’d make a fabulous protagonist. Simply because he has that pivotal protagonist quality: the ability to incur sympathy. Think of DiCaprio, or Willis, or Will Smith. Even when they play morally questionable characters-
you cheer for them. It’s a key ingredient, and JK has that in spades. Anyways this ran long, if you made it all the way here, thanks for reading. That was such a fun RUN Episode!
