Alright...I'm gonna bombard y'all with #MathThoughts tomorrow.

Or maybe not.🤔
This may only be 1 tweet, but here goes:

#Math teachers, what are you willing to do/abandon to 'push' your kids closer to enjoying Math; or, at the least not end up 'hating' it?

Dr. Muhammad got me thinking yesterday.+
(Ok...I was in the parking lot & had to start driving.)

So, she said that in order to convince our Ss that they can be Mathematicians, Scientists, etc we have to first become experts in our areas.

How many of us shared our struggles w/Ss?
This year (and last year), I told my Ss that I struggled with long division. They were surprised. I told them I love doing long division by hand, now.

When we started volume, I had to draw a 3D shape. I said "Hang on...it takes me a minute...don't laugh." They still laughed.🤣+
10th grade Geometry whooped my butt!🤣🤣🤣

I can laugh because I kept going in Math. Senior year I took PreCalc/Trig and College Algebra.

I think this is part of rehumanizing our content. We need to be willing to be human with our students.
Random but Math related: I don't want to teach anything above Algebra because I don't like graphing calculators. I tried. I'm better graphing by hand.

WHO PREFERS TAKING THE LONG WAY WHEN DOING MATH?🤔
