Hopped on late, but I'm enjoying this conversation. https://twitter.com/acslaw/status/1278001863342854145
Professor Patricia Williams speaking about the loneliness of being in environments in which so many of us aren't treated as though we belong.
When she started teaching in 1980, there were only 6 women of color (total!) teaching at law schools in the U.S.
Michele Goodwin talking about being the only Black person on her faculty when she started teaching in law school.
Professor Guy-Uriel Charles discussing the struggles of Black faculty, including those who paved the way for those of us who are in the Academy now.
Those folks took hits personally and professionally as they tried to make these institutions more hospitable to other Black faculty and students as well as people of color in general.
Patricia Williams now discussing how before Derek Bell changed the game, Con Law classes basically centered on the Commerce Clause and ignored issues of race and the law.
Wonderful job, @michelebgoodwin, @danielleholley, Patricia Williams, Guy-Uriel Charles, and others who participated in today's session!
