Me and @Jonathan3141592 will be live tweeting while watching The Force Awakens at 8 CT (just over a half hour). Our evening will take place in this thread!
Before starting, I do want to ask Jonathan to state 1 preconception he has about the film. If it’s negative, then add something you like about the film. If it’s positive, then add something you dislike about the film!
For me, a preconception I have of this film (seen it before) is that it’s pretty generic - almost too closely imitates ANH. I’m sick of planet killing tech! That being said, my positive comment is that this movie LOOKS every bit a SW movie. it’s gorgeous aesthetically!
Update: @Jonathan3141592 needs 10 more mins. I'll let y'all know when we start!
@Jonathan3141592 That theme! What people must have thought going in back in 2015!
also the first sentance of this crawl... "Luke Skywalker has vanished."

@Jonathan3141592 Seeing BB8 for the first time always sucks me right in tbh. So great aesthetically! Droid greebling!
@Jonathan3141592 a vivid memory I have of seeing this in theatres for the first time is "whoa those blasters sound way different... should I be concerned or excited?" hearing it now, I love it.
@Jonathan3141592 great intro for Finn. Lots of blood for disney, lol!
Also, Kylo Ren's intro is great. His helmet always reminded me of Darth Reven (I think that's who I'm thinking of). His costume is great

@Jonathan3141592 RIP Lore San Tekka :-(
I never really liked the "modern humor" inserted into SW - starting with Poe's "so who talks first?"

I hate Phasma's character XD
Rey's theme (which isn't the track titled "Rey's theme" on the soundtrack the first time we hear lol) doesn't start til we see her face. It's musically silent during Rey's intro until she takes her mask off. Love that
@Jonathan3141592 Rey dreaming of leaving while eating and watching a ship leave is a gorgeous moment.
and I really started to like her when she puts that helmet on. First genuine feeling of the ST!

@Jonathan3141592 Color is a big deal in star wars - This is the first glimpse of the "enemy's lair" as it were, and it's dark and cool and metal - like Kylo
Whereas, Rey's environment, though dry and "rough" is bright and full of "life" colors, though no green cause it's a tough life ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
Finn and Poe escaping was one of the most memorable levels in Lego Star Wars: TFA
@Jonathan3141592 This track on the film score is also so much fun!
@Jonathan3141592 first signs of a "colored" holographic projection, in that scene with hux. I'm always interested in how they portray technological advancement and how they discern when to portray advancement and when to portray aesthetic (I can elaborate if needed)
@Jonathan3141592 Ugh I hated that tantrum the first time I saw it, but through the next two movies his character arc makes up for it (and points out his immaturity at times) so i'm kinda more ok with it now... though it's still cringy
oops wrong tweet XD
nvm I thought I replied to the wrong tweet.. this thread thing is confusing on desktop lol
@Jonathan3141592 another memorable Lego level is this ship set of scenes!
@Jonathan3141592 I got so mad at a friend of mine for "spoiling" the film before I'd seen it by saying Chewie got shot lol
@Jonathan3141592 This is when I just smh'd and hoped that this wasn't ANOTHER planet killer uhghuguhg
@Jonathan3141592 I get the "soft reboot" vibe but SW shouldn't have to do that. Continuity-wise, it didn't make any sense to me why everyone is so obsessed with planet killers... SW is so much more than that gimmick!
@Jonathan3141592 Han is standing in the same place when telling them that the force is real as Obi was in 4 when telling luke (and han) that the force is real <3
@Jonathan3141592 One of my biggest gripes about this scene is that there are no classic SW aliens in this scene... not a single one. That makes sense from a "rebooting an old film series" stance, but not from a "continuing a legacy..." that mentality is so manafest all through
@Jonathan3141592 I do like these aliens and want to learn more, but come on... at least sprinkle some classics in there too!
@Jonathan3141592 This vader helmet moment never really made much sense to me, but after seeing the trilogy as a whole, it's really neat, because it infers how much denial about literally everything Kylo is in.. TLJ is hard truths, and TROS is hard decisions
denial specifically that Vader turned to the light before death, so that dark side meditation is kinda null
@Jonathan3141592 I like the implication that she opened the door without knowing it. As Kylo's force ability has grown, her inherent ability has grown too (through the dyad).
@Jonathan3141592 Shoutout to 2015 me when I thought this vision sequence would eventually mean more than " you've joined and are in a legacy..." but it still works
oh also the ever useless knights of ren smh
oh also the ever useless knights of ren smh
@Jonathan3141592 Such an intense speech given by Hux in this sequence! I still have chills! So GOOOOD
And completely crapped on (from a character dev pov) in TLJ
