It’s a really sad day for Minor League Baseball and I just want to say that I hope you all understand how lucky we are as Orioles fans to have all our affiliates so close by. The farthest is Norfolk, which is still just a 4ish hour drive. No other team can say that.
When MiLB does return, it might be without the Frederick Keys or another one of our affiliates, which is painfully sad and frustrating. Make it a point to go check some of them out, especially if you never have. It’s fun and it’s exciting and it’s well worth it.
You don’t wanna go to an O’s game because it’s too much money to see a bad team? Fine. Head down the road to Bowie. Pay $15 for a ticket to sit close enough that you can smell the pine tar, listen to the conversations between players and coaches on the field and in the dugouts.
Bring your kids along, there’s plenty of entertainment for them aside from what’s happening on the field. Enjoy $1 hot dogs and $2 beers or whatever on promotional nights. All while watching guys who might grow to be key contributors on the next good Orioles team.
I could go on but I’ll stop there. All this is to say, don’t take the minor leagues for granted. They’re fun, family-friendly baseball environments and we as Orioles fans are lucky enough to have all of ours in our backyard. Appreciate that.
