I'm really disturbed by the idea that online courses should cost less. It seems to me that online courses are MORE labor intensive for the skilled workers who design and teach them. 1/
I think this comes from the damaging development in higher ed. that online courses should be farmed out to underpaid adjunct labor with no benefits or access to uni resources. 2/
We (meaning those who work in higher ed) should never have tolerated this development to begin with. But in any case, for college students now demanding lower tuition for online courses...3/
Please remember that the faculty teaching your courses, whether they are adjunct or tenure track, have invested years in gaining the knowledge and skills to teach you. 4/
That labor deserves to be properly renumerated, not scoffed at. 5/
(Facilities fees are another ballgame entirely.) /fin
