I've been thinking a lot about duets & how nice it was to come up in a time when glorious duets played on the radio.

Have to start with the monster. This one hit #1 on Hot 100 in Aug 1981 & stayed for 9 weeks: @LionelRichie & @DianaRoss's "Endless Love."
The song you had to sing anytime you saw someone after or a while, or just put peanut butter and jelly together: "Reunited" by Peaches & Herb. 4 weeks at #1 on Hot 100 & R&B charts.
Getting more into Pillow Talk/Quiet Storm territory with Sergio Mendes' "Never Gonna Let You Go" sung by Joe Pizzulo and Leeza Miller. In 1983 peaked at #4 on Hot 100 and went #1 for 4 weeks on Adult Cont. chart.
How can you not get happy listening to "Islands in the Stream" by @_KennyRogers, rest in peace, and @DollyParton?! I may not have appreciated this song as a kid but I do now. Written by the Brothers Gibb, hit #1 on Hot 100 in 1983.
Detroit's own @BobSeger wrote "We've Got Tonight" - truth be told, in my mind I mash up him singing with Sheena Easton. But she sang it with @_KennyRogers, rest in peace. In 1983 went #1 on country charts & #6 on Hot 100.
Skip ahead a few years to đŸŽ”you walked in, I woke upđŸŽ” and we have the mighty Prince with the dear Sheena in U Got The Look. Hit #2 on Hot 100 in 1987. I have thoughts about the lyrics he delighted in having Sheena sing, but that's for another thread...
Yes, "Up Where We Belong" is from *An Officer and a Gentleman* but for me it's from late night radio. This Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes duet hit #1 on the Hot 100 in 1982.
Now I have to admit that after hearing this song 2 zillion times on radio, in *Dirty Dancing*, in ads, I was today-years-old when I learned the female vocalist here is Jennifer Warnes - the same Jennifer Warnes from *Up Where We Belong* #1 Hot 100 & Oscar!
Written and produced (but for Motown!) by the incomparable Ashford & Simpson, we take it back to the GREATS.... In 1968, Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell's "You're All I Need to Get By" went #1 for 5 weeks on R&B chart, #7 on Hot 100.
That Tammi died at age 24 of a brain tumor... 😱 they say Marvin was never the same afterwards...
