Why dream probably won't show us his face: a psychological thread.
First of all, please respect his boundaries and privacy. It shouldn't be that hard. I'm making this thread because some people simply can't handle being respectful towards another human being. Anyways, onto the thread.
1. The fans. Now this is something I've thought about a lot, and its the main reason for him not giving us the face reveal. I'll go more into depth.
1.1 pressure from his fans. You see it all the time, right? Whether it's you yourself saying it, or you've seen others say it as well. "Face reveal??" "OMG PLEASE SHOW US YOUR FACE"
"you NEED to do a face reveal NOW"
Putting pressure on any sort of content creator can be psychologically damaging, and can often leave them feeling stressed, angry, or depressed. All in all, it makes the person NOT want to do what you just asked them to do.
Hes said he's not comfortable with showing his face, yet you all still ask. So when he's sees that you've deliberately ignored him what do you think he's gonna do? Not a face reveal.
1.2 the hate. Of course, anyone is scared of being hated or recieving hate, no matter who. It's just how we humans work. So of course, hateful comments are something dream would want to avoid. He already gets hate (as all creators do), so why add onto it?
After dream posted his "face reveal" he got tons of hate. Why? Because they weren't "satisfied" with how he looked. At this point, because he's so big, he's probably thought about a face reveal for awhile, so this post was probably a test.
People started saying all these rude and shallow things to him, "if you actually look like this I'm UNFOLLOWING" and "ew omg this better not be what you look like!!1!" And so on. When dream reads these types of comments, I'm pretty sure he doesn't feel all too good.
In 1951, the Ashe conformity test was conducted as a way to see how people could conform to society and their view points. The theory Ashe had was that some will go against what they actually believe for this safety net of fitting in.
Now, you might be thinking, what does that have to do with anything here? I'll explain. Say someone just recently started watching dream's videos. They don't know much about him other than he likes to have fun with his bros, and hasn't shown his face.
With new fans constantly surfacing because of how popular he's getting, theres sure to be some who find out what he's done or the type or drama he's gotten into, from HATE comments. And Twitter has a surplus of them.
New fans could see the abundant amount of hate, and join in with that hate, even if it isn't their actual opinion. That's where we come back to the whole "if you look ugly I'm UNFOLLOWING" new fans could see this and take that side because there was a huge negative response to
Dream's "face reveal". Pressure and conformity is all around us, and has a major affect on people's opinions, whether we like to agree or not.
2. His privacy. The man wants his privacy. Please let him have it. He is a real person just like us, flaws and all. It is selfish to put him on a pedestal and only to be disappointed when you find out he isn't a "god with no flaws" because that simply isn't true.
I love dream and his content so much, but his health and happiness should ALWAYS come before any of that.
3. His feelings. Apparently some of you can't comprehend that dream is not a toy you can play with and throw away when you're bored. And that goes for anyone on this planet!!
He's come out many times saying that he simply isn't comfortable with showing his face because he feels insecure. He has every right not to show his face because insecurity based on our looks is something every human faces.
I love dream for his personality and how he is as a person, looks shouldn't play a factor in this AT ALL.
Also, PLEASE remember that these are just possibilities. (Except for where he's insecure) if I've gotten this all wrong and these aren't the reasons why dream won't show us his face, then I was wrong. That's just my psychological analysis.
I also don't ever expect dream to see this, I only posted this for one person bc I love her tehe. But if someone else did come along and read this whole thing thank you!
always remember. RESPECT DREAM!
