As a Christian, I’m wondering when some of my fellow Christians will grasp that we cannot force non-Christians to live as if they’re Christians, too...WHEN THEY AREN’T. The Great Commission tells us to spread the Good News, not force our beliefs and ways of life on others. 🙃
Like...I’ve heard the argument “Would you rather them legally live in sin?” Umm, I’m more concerned with them not thinking I hate them for being who they are just because I’m a Christian than I am with taking any sort of legal action. #sorrynotsorry #loveyourneighborasyourself
I’m not claiming what I believe/the way I believe is the end all be all, but one of the MAJOR tenents of Christianity is that “God is love” so we should really focus on loving our neighbors first and foremost. The rest of it can come later after we have the loving them part down.
I can tell you that even as a Christian, being accosted (I intentionally used that word) by someone on the street trying to tell me about how Jesus should be my Savior is NOT how to go about things. Frankly, it’s frightening (because it’s usually guys who do this to me) and odd.
I usually bite my tongue about how proselytizing like this is more uncomfortable than helpful when it comes to winning over people to Christ, but maybe I shouldn’t. Maybe I should take the time to explain how fostering a genuine relationship where the goal ISN’T preaching to them
in the end, and then drifting away from them if they don’t accept Christ is nottttt how we should be approaching ANY of this. Maybe I’m wrong but I’d rather be wrong than alienating people to a point where they can’t stand Christians at all...or even the mention of God 🤷🏼‍♀️
It just breaks my heart to see people so turned off to Christians and Christianity because of the awful, hateful things people who claim to follow the same path I strive to follow. I don’t need to say “we’re not all like that”. There are enough people that ARE. I’m just trying to
do my best to love on you because not only do you deserve to be loved on as a human being, but also because there are those who claimed my God and the narrow path and actually DARED to not love on you. That makes me LIVID! No one is perfect, but there should be no room for hate.
I’m far from perfect. I can basically guarantee someone can probably talk about when I didn’t follow what I say in this thread, but I’m constantly trying to learn, grow and change into a better person. I make many mistakes, some far more often than others. I’m sorry for them. 💔
