Did you know Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote a sequel to “Phantom of the Opera” where the phantom opens a beach resort on Coney Island?
The phantom invites Christine to sing at his resort, then phantoms his way into her hotel room at night yelling “HA HA it is I, the PHANTOM! I’m back, and I run a beach resort now! Also I built an automaton of you, she lives with me in my beach resort tower.”
Christine is like “Oh hey phantom, good to see you again. This is my beautiful son Gustave.” She unloads Gustave onto the phantom so she can have some time to herself. The phantom and Gustave hang out for a while, taking turns playing increasingly depressing songs on the piano.
Christine’s husband Raoul, who hasn’t really done anything the whole musical except get drunk, gets drunk again, makes a terrible bet with the phantom, and yeets himself out of the story.
Christine tells the phantom that Gustave is actually his son, not Raoul’s, and the phantom decides he’s going to be the best dad in the whole world. “I love my beautiful son!”
Meanwhile there’s a woman named Meg who has been trying to seduce the phantom, but all he ever thinks about is his perfect beautiful Christine, his perfect beautiful Christine automaton, and his perfect beautiful son Gustave.
Angry at being unappreciated, Meg shoots Christine in the gut and the phantom is now a single father doing his best to raise a beautiful son in this topsy turvy world. And that's the end, the show ends there.
