β€’The state of Florida has a tendency for pointing out other southern states’ racist past but ignoring our own.
I, as a floridian have heard very little of any of these events. Even though I had to take Florida History for my social studies class a few years back.
I found this one especially shocking since my school is located in this county
The Central Park Five is a very known case amongst you i’m sure.
Another thing as a floridian i found shocking
I’m not sure what this city is like now and as we all know not everything in the past reflects how it is now as a city. we must learn from our history but i’m still including this to show how we were a part of the south and their ways. whether it’s acknowledged or not.

Obviously, this is not just for my Floridian mutuals but for anyone and everyone. However, I know that i do have a few mutuals who live in florida and i think it’s important to read and share this thread to learn about our history.
