Observations on my first 2 weeks using twitter:
- I find out about some news faster than I would do otherwise.
- Having made a deliberate effort in who I follow, I& #39;m quite regularly seeing views expressed which I don& #39;t in my other social media feeds. (1/n)

- I haven& #39;t really worked out where I want twitter to "fit in" to my social media use. I use Facebook primarily for interacting with "real life" friends. Also for some EA networking, though I think other platforms tend to be better for that. (2/n)
- I use Instragam for climbing only, that works well and feels seperate.
- My intention with Twitter was for it to be my "helps with forecasting" platform, but so far @metaculus discord feels superior other than the "fast news" aspect.

- In particular, I& #39;m not sure where I want my own tweets to fall. My "most liked" tweet was a joke I posted on someone else& #39;s joke. This seems like a bad metric.
- I& #39;ve heard good things about #edutwitter and #AcademicTwitter and could probably get more use out of both. (4/n)

- Seeing a whole bunch of views outside of my comfort zone might help my calibration, but I& #39;m pretty convinced it& #39;s bad for my mental health.
- I usually don& #39;t have energy to engage with either slightly wrong ideas or outright bullying (not of me), but I still see both. (5/n)

- And seeing both without feeling able to act is draining.
- I& #39;m worried this has made me less enthusiastic about being an EA, due to losing respect for a. some of the community, and b. humanity in general. I& #39;m half joking here, but only half. (6/n)

- One bright side is that some things are genuinely funny, e.g. @QuiteWhelming, the @LinchZhang + @davidmanheim follower war.
- Another bright side is I& #39;ve seen some really cool adivice that I otherwise would have missed, like blocking all notifications on my phone. (7/n)
