1. New data drop from @pewresearch which has a panel tracking survey, this is special bc it means they are re-contacting the same voters through the course of the cycle. Key takeaway: majority of Trump voters are voting FOR him, majority of Biden voters are voting against Trump
2. That, my friends, is pretty damn interesting and affirms the coalesce around Biden we saw late in the early primary around Biden was a "stop Trump" movement & not a product of some type of sudden clarity or appeal of Biden himself. And THAT means the ticket NEEDS appeal still
3. which is its 1 major weakness and should be the PRIMARY goal of the VP pick (giving voters a reason to vote FOR the ticket, which they clearly lack right now!). That said, if you asked me to choose between love and hate- I'm taking hate every time as a vote motivator, as y'all
4. well know. As suspected, those who are moving away from Trump appear to be doing so due to dissatisfaction over his mismanagement of the pandemic bc, and I really can't state this enough- if you're running for office- killing your voters via incompetence is a bad strategy.
5. And, when you are a Republican, and your bread and butter are old people, you should not, openly at least, suggest they have "had a good run and should now sacrifice themselves for the good of the economy." BC humans are hard-wired to want to live. We're weird that way.
6. As you might have noticed, people are a little angry right now. The good news is, Reps seem to know the check is going to be due soon, and the bill is yuge.
Finally, Trump's approval among the panel is now 39%. Unfortunately, they don't release the crosstabs, so I can't tell you what the party breakdowns are (they could bc the n size is robust (over 4K, so I'm not sure why). https://www.people-press.org/2020/06/30/publics-mood-turns-grim-trump-trails-biden-on-most-personal-traits-major-issues/
