I hope @GovernorVA will reconsider the decision to allow bars/restaurants to operate at 100% of indoor capacity starting with Phase 3 of reopening tomorrow.

Bars/restaurants are a trifecta of unsafe circumstances — not wearing masks while eating, indoors with limited air flow, not socially distanced with tablemates (or standing at a bar). The rest of Phase 3 is relatively safe.

We should learn from Florida, Texas, and Arizona. All have cited bars as key factors in their #COVID19 increases. All are reconsidering, but the damage is done. We can avoid that.

To quote Dr. Fauci, “Congregation at a bar, inside, is bad news. We really gotta stop that.”

If @GovernorVA thinks people will stay six feet apart after a few drinks at the bar, I’ll take him on a Fairfax County bar crawl Friday night. If people are six feet apart, I’ll buy him all the Virginia bourbon he can drink.
