fallen angel. haseul created her to be /perfect/ so she can bridge heaven and hell together ( like the middle ). she was originally an angel set to inherit heaven, but fell in love with a human.
she's all so powerful because haseul made her perfect you know yadda yadda yadda. but she fell in love with human jiwoo at that time and got corrupted ( but she didnt fall yet. )
the reason why she became a devil is because she cut off her own wings ( surprise! not really? this is hinted on the early chapters with chaewon and the late chapters with her convo with vivi )
when she fell for jiwoo, haseul erased her memories. made her forget everything about jiwoo ( heejin witnessed that, because at that time, she was working with jinsol. ) jinsol was already long corrupted before haseul found out, but haseul only erased her memories
wayyyy after jiwoo thing. ( haseul is still salty about that betrayal, by the way. ) when she fell and became a devil, she had the power to inherit hell ( created perfect ) but she gave it to sooyoung instead
jinsol was the one who presented a dying hyunjin and a desperate olivia hye a contract.
she's one of the most complex characters in that au because she's so mysterious but also so outgoing at the same time and thats what i like about her
in the original devil au, when jiwoo got assigned to jinsol, jinsol didnt know what she looked like so she was annoyed by it, but when she saw jiwoo's face for the first time she immediately softened ( because she's always been looking for jiwoo
because once again jinsol fell in love with jiwoo's past lives. even after haseul erased her memories, jinsol never failed to fall for jiwoo over and over again )
she's acquaintances with yerim and jungeun even though both are angels ( jinsol asked yerim to look after jiwoo's past lives, and even after jiwoo got assigned to hell, yerim is still looking over her... subtly )

all that we currently know about her is that she's looking for this particular person her past lives asked her to free. banned from entering heaven because haseul is petty, and is somehow surrounded by big shots despite being a rookie.
there's not much mystery with jiwoo because she's a trainee and doesn't have any clue on her past life other than the letter she takes care of and that one time she had a vision of a black haired woman with blonde streaks ( jinsol. )
but she's just so confused about everything that is happening all the time. why is sooyoung hot on her ass? why did she get assigned to the rank 1? how is she involved with all the crazy shit? the reasoning behind that is that everything is planned
everything is planned carefully by jinsol. that's all i can say.

in the last update, hyunjin and heejin was given the choice to choose between heaven and hell. ( Reason not disclosed ) and while heejin picked to go to heaven, hyunjin picked neither. ( Jinsol )
note that when heejin and hyunjin arrived jinsol was already corrupted and wasnt exactly an angel anymore. she's rather in between, like part angel and part devil because she can grant contracts yet train angels as well
at this time, jinsol's sin wasn't severe enough. she just fell for a human, but haseul decided that it wasn't exactly a big major offense that could lead her to fall directly into hell but just put her in the middle
kim hyunjin was a knight under queen chaewon's kingdom, and fell in love with an enemy knight from another kingdom ( heejin ). her contract with jinsol was to make sure she doesnt forget heejin in her next life in exchange for the contract ( that jinsol didnt elaborate )
when the contract happened, hyunjin was already dying. ( heejin was the reason, for that but heejin didnt know ) and because she's kinda too in love with heejin she blindly said yes to jinsol's proposal ( contract in exchange of ??? Something and her remembering heejin )
eventually, hyunjin finishes the 'something' jinsol asked of her, which is the illegal contract she had with jiwoo. ( will not elaborate for da future ) and jinsol fulfilled her own side of the contract by giving hyunjin the memories of her past life with heejin ( all of it )
technically she and heejin were already together but they had to hide it because an angel cant fall for well anyone who isnt an angel. ( which means they also fell in love with each other even if they dont remember each other at all )
in the old devil au, hyunjin is the original beta. aka the person who hid the chest jiwoo needs to find. and because what hyunjin did is kinda well not legal but also not illegal heejin protected her by taking the role of 'beta'
now heejin's fake beta really didnt matter since hyunjin didn't get in trouble but she just wanted to be careful and protect hyunjin. thats about it
