The Mayor is threatening to cut the police budget by £110m - that's 1,692 officers.

Despite hiking his office costs by £527m (320%).

A summer of crime is coming.

@SadiqKhan needs to retake control of the streets.

Crime is rising in London.

Knife crime is up. Burglaries are up. Illegal raves have turned violent from Brixton to Maida Vale.

And with pubs set to reopen on this weekend, police are expecting more chaos.

So we need to support our police — not cut their budgets.

Sadiq Khan is blaming coronavirus for police cuts. He says he’s got no choice.

But he’s not telling the full story.

Leadership is about the choices you make. And the Mayor made a lot of choices long before coronavirus hit.

He paid out over £30m on golden goodbyes for TfL staff last year alone.

And because the Mayor has failed to expand the transport network, he has piled up record debt.

TfL debt now stands at £13bn, the highest it has ever been (and its legal limit.)

That means @SadiqKhan has spent £1.6bn on debt interest since 2016.

And now to pay for all this waste, @SadiqKhan wants to cut £110m from our police.

The same police that were under attack just a few days ago.

It seems like Sadiq Khan would rather cut police officers than cut press officers.

But here’s what I’d do.
