brandon sanderson - oathbringer

i had way too many thoughts for one tweet so here’s my thoughts in a notes app format. overall i think this book was basically perfect.

5/5
brandon sanderson - mistborn: secret history

i could literally have a novella of kelsier making fun of people in heaven and i would give it 5 stars. I NEED to know what this means for the rest of the cosmere holy shit. 5/5
brandon sanderson - warbreaker

the first 200 pages of this book were slow but once i got past that it was great. i really like this book. i love what it did with the characters and the plot. not as strong as sandersons other works but still brilliant. 4/5
brandon sanderson - arcanum unbounded

a fun lil collection i rly enjoyed!

the emperor’s soul 4/4
the hope of elantris 3/5
the eleventh metal 4.5/5

overall: 4/5
jim butcher - storm front

this such a cute story!!! i loved this so much. i was a bit nervous going in bc typically i’m not the biggest fan of like vampires/fae/werewolves/etc. but this is such a classic investigative fantasy type of story. i love this series already. 5/5
terrance hayes - american sonnets for my past and future assassin

this was a great collection. so real, raw and well written + i LOVED the use of sounds. i’m usually quite harsh on technicalities bc i love pulling poems apart but this was brilliant. 4.5/5
laini taylor - strange the dreamer

this was such a disappointment for me. the plot and pacing were kinda weird. i never got into it or connected with any of the characters. the writing rly is beautiful but i feel like the other aspects were too weak to make up for it. 2/5
stephen king - pet sematary

this is probably the most disturbing book i’ve read. i had to keep stopping bc it was overwhelmingly difficult to read. it’s definitely one of my favourite books of all time now though. i adore king’s writing, his work w atmosphere is perfect. 5/5
katherine arden - the bear and the nightingale

i love the writing style a lot but that being said, it kind of lacked on all other fronts. there didn’t seem to be a comprehensive plot and the characters are weak. weirdly tho i still enjoyed reading it? rating may change. 3.75/5
nina lacour - we are okay

this is such a deep yet simple and book. i think it did everything perfectly. i could feel the gut wrenching sadness of the MC and i adored how complicated all of the relationships are. this is a rly short book but i think everyone needs to read it. 4/5
samantha shannon - the priory of the orange tree

i really liked this. this is set in a massive world with such amazing characters and relationships that you just root for the whole time. i found it rly hard to get past the first 300ish pages but after that i loved it. 4.5/5
emily henry - beach read

this is, surprisingly, not set on a beach. i liked this though, i thought it was okay. but there’s nothing really special and i got kind of bored after a day of reading it. but i’m not rly the target, if someone is into romcom they’d love this! 3.5/5
toshikazu kawaguchi - before the coffee gets cold

this book was one of the most surprisingly books i’ve ever read. it’s unabashedly awkward and a little bit clunky but also atmospheric and so lovely. this book was a lot more heartwarming than expected and i loved it. 4/5
jandy nelson - i’ll give you the sun

i thought this book was good but it wasn’t mind blowing. the writing took a while to get used to but once i did i liked it, but it’s either smth you love or hate. i don’t rly know at what point people cry ?? maybe that’s just me idk. 3.5/5
