I am mad at Pepp for several reasons:

1. They wont refund me the $805 for food/housing because of an outstanding balance, even though that balance is going to be covered by aid. I don’t have a constant job, so that money goes towards my car payments/future expenses for next year
I am not the only person this is happening to, so I know it’s not just me. Also, if the funds are specifically for food and housing, and we’re not using their food and housing, that’s the whole point of the refund, so we can use it for ACTUAL food and housing.
2. International students

I am not an international student, but my friend is, and she had to find out from another student that they’re forcing anyone who’s out of the country to quarantine for 28 days and have to take online classes for a while (if teachers will provide it)
If that other student hadn’t told her, she would’ve had no idea. No I know at least two students who may not come back to America and let alone Pepperdine because of this. The lack of communication and consideration is crazy to me!!
3. We have yet to hear from Gash ANY WORD of how this year is going to be run. So far I have heard that we’re going to have to walk a certain way, masks on and 6ft apart at all times, and all food will be grab and go. however this is all circumstantial, because we haven’t heard!!
I understand that this is a difficult time, but leaving us in the dark is unacceptable. Provide us emails with updates of what ideas are being discussed so that we, your students body, can better prepare ourselves for what lies ahead. I am shocked by the lack of communication-
ESPECIALLY since California’s HUGE spike in COVID cases. Again, I understand this is hard, but the least you could do is keep us informed on what the admin is thinking of doing. The fact that my department has given me more information than the head of the school is astounding.
Finally,

3. Roommates. I know this seems trivial, but if we are going to be on campus with hard regulations, why in the world do we still have roommates? It’s not 6feet apart, you won’t be wearing masks, and if you don’t know the person you have NO idea what you’re walking into.
I for one don’t mind sharing a living space, but having to share a tight compact space with an unknown person makes me uncomfortable. And not because of them, but because of how much that will cause an uproar in possible COVID cases at school. If you really want to lower the rate
People should have their own room- especially in seaside!! 8 kids to a dorm!!! No!!! Clearly with rooms it’s not a COVID safety situation- it’s a money situation. Please do us all a favor and think about what you’re doing before you cram students into a room together,
Pepp is begging for another outbreak and I am not trying to be on campus for .25 seconds and then all the sudden we’re getting evacuated again because some student gave their roommate COVID and now it’s going everywhere. When I emailed them about it, they said “this is the norm”-
Well, sorry to break it to you, Pepp, but WE’RE NOT IN THE NORM. WEARING MASKS AND WALKING IN A CERTAIN WAY LIKE AN EFFING MILITARY ISNT THE NORM. Everything is going to feel dystopian and overly mandated so the least you can do is give me a room to myself where I feel safe.
So there you have it. For those who were mad at my last tweet, THIS is what I’m mad about. I gave a funny fact BC IT WAS FUNNY. Pepp is a business and is run by money, so damn right I’m going to speak what’s on my mind and if I have a complaint I have the right to say so.
If anyone has any information they want to share with me about how they feel going into this year please dm me. I’m going to be writing an email to the head of student affairs tomorrow, because I feel I can’t tweet all this out without having some action behind it.
