I suspect people are angry over Akuapim Polo’s picture with her son because they see women’s nudity as obscene, something that should only be for the consumption of men. To make matters worse, she posted it online making her nudity public, again, something considered a moral offense
So because we do not know what to with non-sexual nudity, folks are sexualizing her and projecting their feelings onto the mother and her son. I don’t mean to shame anyone, but there is nothing in that photo that we do not see daily in Ghana.
In my father’s village, the women walk around with the breasts hanging in the open. Parents, especially mothers talk about how their children follow them everywhere even to the toilet all the time on this app. So tell me, what exactly is strange or disgusting about the picture?
What exactly do you see when you look at that picture? If you saw that picture and thought of sex, then it means you sexualize your mothers, sisters, and female relatives. Which explains the high rates of rape by brothers, fathers, and other relatives in Ghana.
So perhaps, instead of being angry with her over a picture that she has sexualized, you should sit and explore your disgust and anger
