Im feeling frustrated. Incoming #Rant.
I've spent much of the past 3 months on mat leave. Aŕlone 6am to 6pm, with 2 kids under 5 without a car (most of the time).

Safe shopping is a real challenge. Walking narrow footpaths hearding my almost 3yr old, pram pushing around obstacles (usually cars, bins & ppl on the pavement) is draining. Cycling with a trailor whilst cars get too close feels like im risking our lives.
There is little socially distant safe space on the designated cycle paths. They are rammed on a dry day.
Im getting pretty pee'd off seeing how well other urban centres are trailing new ways of doing things when nothing is chaining here. All I see is fast mostly single occupancy cars with loads of physical space, driving as though im in the way.
We get drenched at crossings from huge puddles. The cafes etc we used to frequent have no space to spill out offering a place to sit and eat safely.
#Swansea is the most car centric city i have ever lived in, and ive lived in the USA. Right now, i feel like i live in a car park.
We have to find a way to empower & enable decision makers to join together in multidisciplinary teams (this is long past being a highways alone job anymore) of diverse ppl to talk about what the public realm needs to deliver & work with experts to get it right.
We need to have better conversations with communities about place. Ppl ask for more parking & faster roads as thats all they know.
#Covid has give us the opportunity to rethink space, work/life balence etc lets not waste it.
Talk is cheep we need action. Otherwise I'm setting my next target on transport and im coming for you. Whoever you are.

If this sounds uncharacteristic of me. I recently got soaked from a car passing though a gross puddle, as i danced with a screaming baby strapped to my front. I was holding hands with an energetic toddler, on our way for an early morn shopping trip. There was a less than friendly
driver in the mix commenting on my choice of dry crossing. Throw in sleep deprivation and I've had it with crap public space, which feels like it was designed in the age of the dinosaurs. Rarrrr.
