Dear ‘anonymous’ medical students on Twitter
I’ve received messages from many of you & you are wonderful!
Why don’t you post as yourselves on Twitter?
Is medical culture so toxic that it scares you from speaking out?

I remember being a med student and having fear of retaliation; this has existed long before you, me, and my seniors!
The only way to change medical culture, globally, is do things differently!
You have a platform to express yourselves more potently than we ever did.

Use it as yourselves!
Part of our learning is find the parameters of our world & exploring within them
The only way you can change parameters is to know them
You will feel more confident and accepting of yourselves to do so
It also sets a precedent for you!

Being a medical student is HARD. Was hard for me!
But I spoke up a lot as a med student, resident, and still do! Precedents...
So I’d suggest posting as yourselves—-for yourself but also to really change medical culture!
