Illiteracy got the upper hand when we stopped teaching phonics.

We have generational illiteracy in families. The kids come to school w/ 'word gaps'. We're more offended w/ actual gaps than the sys that created them.

Does anyone have a Reading Specialist in their bldg who actually...works with kids on Reading? Do they hold workshops for teachers?
