One of the top questions on my mind lately has been, "What do I do to create SGP for a shortened season?" I suspected I'd take my SGP calculations and adjust them to 60/162 of their value for counting stats and leave ratio stats alone.
To test this, I downloaded all of last year's @TheNFBC Second Chance Memorial Day league standings (15 leagues). This is the best source of a shortened season standings I could dream of. I believe those leagues ran from 5/27 - 9/29/19, or about 68% of last year's 162-game season.
The average team's statistics were consistent with this. About 68% of the NFBC Online Championship 162-game standings for all counting stats and about the same ratios.
But what about the SGP factors? Easily some more fluctuation, but I'd still say using 60/162 for counting stats looks correct.
Among the biggest deviations from the expected 68% are SB and SV. I suspect this is because of the extreme attention these categories always seem to get. The focus on them appears even more extreme in a shortened season.
