Important thread. This book is on a ton of reading lists and recommendations (admittedly which I've shared, too) but it's worth keeping these tweets in mind. https://twitter.com/b_tynes/status/1277412194867650569
I have read the book and I really didn't think it was very good, although I didn't have the language to really explain why it was bothering me.

Really, just read the thread.
For me as a reader, what stuck out was how much of a memoir it is. It's fine the author shares his own experiences (often it can be helpful), but here it felt a bit derailing. When reading this thread and looking at some of the criticisms on say Goodreads...
...I wonder if this is perhaps too much of his own experiences being used to apply universally.
