Capital has completely usurped the black image, along with the black struggle. Through this it’s fully incorporated a disingenuous concern for black death and morbidity where statements like “Covid kills more black people”
can comfortably headline on the NYT or the BBC and of course your antenna will ping at this language because it’s an approximation of truth, but b/c everything is a snippet now they don’t have to explain what this means or contextualize it, b/c that would reveal that black death
is direct and intentional, & the Covid spectacle itself is designed to mask this, underneath which many more black people are set to die from all avenues: poverty, unemployment, every other health condition that ISN’T Covid and all this exacerbated by harsh
&fascistic lockdown measures. This is BY DESIGN. The arena for struggle isn& #39;t "representation", or recognition that more black people die, the ruling class already knows all this. But this pseudo-revolutionary language has been subsumed by spectacle and in so doing will be used
to mask reality & avoid the masses& #39; righteous anger. so now while we& #39;re wringing our hands about masks & sanitizers, voicing any of these concerns is morally outlawed because "how could you not care that blacks and minorities are disproportionately dying from Covid????"
when in reality that very question actually corroborates everything about the ruling class& #39; storyline and says nothing about the real processes at work killing black populations and redesign society for even more death
