Important thread by @Shaz_arch on heritage's new home with @DarraghOBrienTD in the department of Housing, Local Gov. & Heritage.
Heritage isn't an anchor to stop progress, instead it can be a catalyst for a better future. It comes with responsibilities, but enormous opportunities https://twitter.com/Shaz_arch/status/1277907359361310722
One of the challenges heritage has is that it is a blanket term that covers so many different aspects – our historical sites, buildings, monuments, objects in museum artefacts, archives, natural heritage, and intangible heritage customs, sports, music, dance, folklore, crafts etc
In the words of @HeritageHubIRE:
'Our heritage is our inheritance - what the past has conceded to us, what we value in the present and what we choose to preserve for future generations'
That sense of custodianship is vital, I hope that it is a shared view with the new government
