Women are terrible listeners.

Women have the potential to be excellent empathizers but as far as listening and comprehending the message that was conveyed to them, women hear what they want to hear or draw conclusions rather than comprehending what was told to them.
Often times (I’ll give an example in a few) women who have this issue listen to respond rather than listening and comprehending what’s being said first.

Listening can be broken down to the hearing of words (auditory), focusing on the words being said then comprehending-
the message by asking follow up questions to know what was meant. Generally, auditory listening is immediately skipped to drawing a conclusion on what was said. The most common:

Message: ‘Red apples are good and juicy’
Response: ‘Yellow apples apples are juicy too’
This is a break down in communication as well as an incorrect drawing of conclusion.
Another thing is women will do compare their own experiences (someone mentioned this) before fully understanding the situation at hand. This happens especially when it comes to traumatic instances or instances where the ‘listener’ feels the need to exert superiority
Ex:
Message: ‘Omg I just got a new job with a pay boost to 15$’
Response: ‘I remember when I started making 15$, now I’m salary.’

This is not listening and it is in fact harmful to the speaker. It reduces the speakers good news and offers no support to the conversation.
This tactic of response is often one of the reasons a lot of women and children prefer to speak to men regarding bigger issues. What men lack in conveying empathy they make up for in comprehension of issues.
So much so that men can at times understand the situation better that female speakers. This is a core reason why ‘mansplaining’ is hated on a deep level by feminists lol but that’s a topic for another day
