I'm going to keep talking about #HomeEducation as opposed to #LockdownSchooling #homeschooling. They're very different things imo.
You don't have to follow a curriculum when you're home educating. That might sound terrifying. How will you know what to teach when?
But here's the thing. You don't actually have to teach. Children are learning beings. A lot of the time the education system gets in the way of that. If you're in full flow with something, really enjoying it, do you appreciate being made to stop every 40 minutes?
Probably not. A lot of how education is arranged in school takes all the fun out of it, and at home, you can fit it to your children and your lifestyle.
Some families do follow curriculum and that is their choice. We use a few curriculum oriented apps, so that I know we're covering basic skills.
If you are considering home education, or just want to know what your options are, lots of home educators about, happy to chat.
Is #HomeEducation the right option for every family? I doubt it very much. But if people are being forced to consider it by govt plans, I want them to have as much info as possible.
(is there going to be an extra budget for schools with circular tables to replace them? How do people know face coverings interfere with education, anyone seen any research on that? So many questions.)
