can i just -

ok.

can i just fucking point out how differently jgy acts during various points in the guanyin episodes?? and how, by contrasting these moments, you start to see so very clearly that he is, consciously or subconsciously, manipulating lxc?
when lxc first expresses doubt in his ability to believe him, jgy goes cold & replies that it doesn't matter; er-ge has no choice regardless.

he's cold again when lxc has shuoyue at his throat & wwx is interrogating him. he remains distant as lxc says, numbly,
all this for the stygian tiger seal? to which jgy replies, that's only part of the reason; why don't you ask me to explain? and he's cracking a little bit here, right? he's starting to show some emotion underneath the ice that's suddenly come over him. but it's still subdued.
it's at this point that lxc AGAIN expresses doubt that he can trust jgy - and it is only! now!! when jgy KNOWS that he is FUCKED! that he unleashes himself. he lets himself crumble. and maybe it's only partly an act; there is probably some truth to his breakdown.
but it at least partially to make himself seem more pitiful - to whom? the only ppl in there who aren't completely over his bullshit are his former sworn brother & his nephew, and he sure as hell isn't clinging to the front of jin ling's robes now is he?
all this to say: jgy is fucking good at math and knew (again, consciously or subconsciously; it doesn't rly matter) that he could get lxc to lower his guard w a bit of maneuvering & a couple of tears - so he did.

and that, my dudes, is called being a manipulative rat bastard.
also if it seems like i'm being bitter about this it's bc i fucking am lmao. there is a not-insignificant number of folks who will continue to claim that jgy never did anything bad to lxc & it's like... y'all... he was literally playing w lxc's heart at guanyin... maybe out of
self-preservation or w/e but why does that matter/why does that excuse his behavior? i just want folks to understand that, regardless of intention, some percentage of what he did was insidiously, deliberately cunning.
