The current situation for trans women in the UK is:

- Most do not hold a GRC because they are too expensive and difficult to attain
- We are expected to wait 2-4 years to even *begin* medical transition on the NHS
- Most of us already "self-identify" into women's spaces
There is no blanket law on who can use what women's spaces. There are laws on when discrimination against trans people is allowable, but if I manage a public toilet I am not obliged to (and most likely am not interested in) police which women can use it.
When it comes to accessing bottom surgery and gender recognition, unfortunately one thing gatekeepers are looking for is evidence that you are "integrating" in your new "gender role". This is obviously *bullshit*, but it means trans women *need* to use these spaces
Any change in the law to require trans women to hold a GRC or to have attained surgery before using women's spaces would create a catch-22, where we cannot access these things
