1)This is why I am so wiped out over this EHCP. The LA have made every single aspect of the process as difficult as possible for us. Social care screening representative rang 3 months ago while we we're eating dinner. Said 'I need to ask you some questions about your daughter'

2) I said 'Email me them so I can have a think. I can't respond off the cuff on such important information' LA Said 'I have to ask you the questions' I said 'Write them down. Send them to me'. Argument. Then LA agree to email form for me to fill in and send back.

3) Partner and I fill in form. We are happy with the information provided. Email it back. Bipolar causes barriers for me in conversations on phone so being able to do this meant daughter got better representation of her needs.

4) 3 months later LA ring. 'We can't accept the form you sent us'. Me 'Why not? We did what you told us to do' LA 'I have to write the information' Me 'You know nothing about my daughter. How will you do that?' LA 'I ask you questions over the phone'

5) Me 'My answers to the questions are on the form. Just use them' LA 'I can't. I have to ask you the questions and write your answers down'. Me 'You have my answers already' LA ' You could read the answers you have written out to me over the phone. Me 'Are you kidding?'

6) 'You want me to get a copy of the form you also have in front of you, you ask the questions and I read out my answers and you type them into a new form or copy and paste them from the form I've sent you?' LA 'No, I need to ask you the questions and you answer'

7) Me 'This is ridiculous.' Argument. Can I speak to your manager? LA 'Its my manager who told me to do it' Me 'Get her to ring me'. Manager rings hours later. I have to go through the whole experience of explaining about bipolar yet again. Beg for reasonable adjustments.

8) After an argument Manager agrees that LA will use the answers I provided 3 months ago.

This is a typical day with the council. I would like to say that it is incompetence across the board. In reality, I think it is endemic prejudice towards people with disabilities such as me and B. They won't even give my daughter a blue badge. She still doesn't have an EHCP.
