ACTUAL unpopular opinion:

One week of resting hard

Is better than one week of grinding without purpose.

I want you to easily learn,

What I had to the hard way.

Thread below 👇
Two days ago

I told you that I would share the lessons I learned

From stepping away from a project for a week.

Specifically, for me, that was engaging on Twitter.

I needed the break, for myself.

But in my hiatus, I learned more than I ever could on this platform.
A lot of people pretend “hustle culture” means you’re to hustle every day.

Never stop grinding.

Everyone is your competition.

This is true, to an extent.

But here’s what they’re not telling you.

You can’t compete with anyone,

When you don’t know what you’re competing in.
Here’s a fun secret for you:

I started this as an experiment.

I always liked creating, writing, and marketing.

With all the extra time from the pandemic, I needed direction.

Yet, despite my growth, I didn’t HAVE direction.

What could I possibly mean by this?
I posted a lot on accounts I was interested in.

I connected with people I wanted to learn from.

I didn’t NEED a Twitter guide to tell me "how" to grow.

However, I didn’t know my own specific approach to growth.

You CAN'T be told what you want.

You HAVE to find it.
I was blindly engaging anywhere and everywhere I could.

Such is the power of a smartphone.

I would interrupt my walks to check Twitter.

I would scroll during dinner.

A spare ten minutes?

You get the idea.

It was no wonder I burned out.
However, I noticed something interesting upon returning.

Even in leaving, I still GAINED followers, albeit slowly.

My past work was putting in its dividends for me.

That’s when I realized the real power behind this.

And when I decided to take it deeper.
I was very willing to walk away from this.

It was just an experiment, after all, with the extra time from quarantine.

Ironically enough, I will be working far less,

Now that I’ve committed to my growth.

And that’s because I established GROUND RULES for myself.
I won’t work on this more than an hour a day unless I want to.

I won’t write from anywhere else other than my desk, on my computer.

I will not have this account active on my phone.

Will this slow my long-term growth?

The answer is actually NO.
In the short run, I might lose out on greater analytics.

But in the long run, I will be a consistent presence.

And I will be able to focus on other pursuits in my life without burning out.

If you remember NOTHING ELSE, know this:

Consistency DESTROYS bursts of momentum.
I LOVE to write.

I love to share what I care about.

I love to see people grow.

That’s why, starting today

You can count on a thread EVERY SINGLE DAY

On the subjects of health, wellness, and optimizing yourself.
I’m one of you.

I’m here to better myself in every way.

The only way I can do that is to share:

- What I’ve learned
- What I am learning
- What I aim to learn

I want to raise standards…

- For myself
- For my friends
- For everyone

I’m no messiah.

I’m the Everyman.
If I can do this, I want you to as well.

I know you have potential,

Even if you think you don't.

Because I once thought I didn't,

And now I won't stop until I make something of myself.

Follow me and let’s build each other up, together.
If you enjoyed this thread, PLEASE consider retweeting the first post to help someone...
