So, I went to see a rheumatologist today to finally get a handle on what I’ve known is arthritis in my hands. The facility was less-than-professional looking (the had homemade jewelry for sale in the waiting area) but I tried to not judge by appearances...
...however, when the nurse took my blood pressure by having me rest my bare arm in the crook of hers while she wasn’t wearing gloves, I started to become very concerned. Then, the doctor came in dressed in a stained dress shirt, polyester pants and scuffed shoes...
and HE started examining my eye WITHOUT GLOVES ON. I pulled away and when I asked him if he should be wearing gloves he got indignant, saying gloves were useles and he washes his hands “many times each day”. I told him I was uncomfortable being there and left immediately.
I’m planning to report this place to the state medical board, and thankfully I was able to schedule an appointment at a different facility that sounds like a better fit. One more reason to make me apprehensive about visiting a doctor; I put this visit off for 5 years already.
(I realize there are typos in this thread but I’m not interested in reliving this experience again, so we’re all just gonna have to live with it)
