Sometimes I think about hair in movies and how powerful a character’s hair change can signify an important character moment/change. This is probably the one that often comes to mind (also include the change in the 1st film.)
Sure, it’s a Fire Nation disguise, but Katara matures and grows significantly in Book 2 to Book 3, where coincidentally we saw her let her hair down more often.
If I’m not mistaken, Katniss in the right photo is struggling with her idea as the Mockingjay?? It’s really clever to strip her of her iconic image of that.
I mean...need I say more?
Another classic. In this instance, Mulan has to cut her hair to blend in, however, I think symbolically it really adds to the story of how she rejects traditional gender expectations.
Grace really goes through something. Aside from it following a descent into a nightmare and a hairstyle simply falling apart, I think Grace slowly liberates herself throughout the film and she ultimately becomes her own hero.
Our queen, who found peace with her friends and love at the end of VI
I’m such a sucker for She’s All That, and I love how Laney doesn’t completely adhere to the “transformation” she was given. She’s still ultimately the same girl at the beginning, but more resolute with who she is.
Behold, the most dramatic and symbolic hair change in of all cinema (I had to sneak in something petty, okay)
Gale goes through so much shit in the Scream series that she loses 1/3 of her bangs and she still slays at staying alive. We have no choice but to stan.
Kind of story driven? I like the continuity of BW maintaining some blonde- which I believe she originally did to be unrecognizable. She obviously wouldn’t need to keep much of a cover after the snap.
Never forget our girl who just wanted blue highlights only for them to be obliterated via a slap.
The Bride’s revenge mission was filled with reflection and growth, she really made it to the final confrontation with the sleekest cut.
