Yesterday was the first day in 17 days that we didn't set a new high for confirmed #COVID19 hospitalizations. It didn't last long.

@GovAbbott used to refer to high counts as "one day blips." Yesterday was a one day blip - just not in his favor. More on this below.

The lower hospitalizations yesterday coincided with @GovAbbott contacting hospitals to express "displeasure" about the negative headlines re: ICU capacity. He often brags that we have "abundant" hospital beds available.

Abbott's spokesperson said they asked for more information, not less. Either way TMC had changed how they report these numbers.

I'm personally wary about this knowing that @TXAG tried to suppress confirmed cases from Texas jails and prisons.

06/18 announced that Texan kids will return to school in the fall. They've yet to provide guidelines to know what that's going to look like & how to keep kids safe.

Don't try to schedule a tour at the Governor's Mansion though. It's still closed.

Speaking of kids @GovAbbott repealed emergency rules for child care centers on 06/12 when we were well into this surge.

He reinstated them on Friday - two full weeks of kids more likely being exposed to #COVID19 and then taking it home with them.

In a slight effort to get control @GovAbbott closed bars again and restaurants can only operate at 50% capacity. He also shut down tubing operations.

TABC has since found 59 bars still operating. 7 refused to close resulting in a 30 day suspension of their liquor license.
