Hello! - first I wanna acknowledge that I should not be reading Reddit but sometimes the google alert to my name sends me post from here. So what I wanna say is I’ve noticed that every time something good is posted about me someone shows up to mention the Sahara incident.
This is extremely toxic. Recently Naomi spoke of how you shouldn’t cancel someone or hold them to one mistake- yet this is what’s been happening.
No matter what good I try to do in the world- someone shows up to remind everyone that one day in December 2018 I cracked under all the pressure and hate I’d received and lashed out. I admit it was an awful thing to say and I’m ashamed of it
But the work I do every day to better myself and my community far outweighs that one tweet. So admit that you don’t want to see a black person speak up for themselves, speak out against racism, or have the confidence to have their own opinions about your fave star or racist MUA
admit that you have trouble empathizing with people of color but you have no problem criticizing them. Admit that you don’t apply the “she’s only human” excuse to black queens because maybe you weren’t raised to see us as human.
But stop pretending that one incident is the hallmark of my character. I challenge you to come up with something else or admit what everyone knows #thevixenwasright
