I’m a 6ft, 85kg male who does martial arts. I tower over the most of the females I train with. If I self-identify as female, should I be allowed to compete against them?
Just to expand on this, when we train we spar with everyone (over 14) - male, female, big, small. But only light contact. The moment there is full contact it’s sex segregated. It’s about respect.
And it’s also obviously about safety. My female instructor is several degrees higher than me but I am much bigger & heavier. Despite her experience & expertise it simply wouldn’t be safe for us to compete.
I’d always assumed this was blindingly obvious to everyone but after reading people who think dyeing your hair is changing biology now I’m not sure.
This is just one example of necessary sex segregation. Men invading women’s athletics is bad enough - they are cheats, nothing more - but other sports/events have safety issues. The fact is men are on average bigger & heavier. Sex is real. Biology is real.
