It would appear my recent post and that of @with_rhymes has triggered a fairly staggering amount of responses/likes/follows. I& #39;m just 1 individual (as is @with_rhymes) who is trying there best to push back against an ideology which I believe...
to be harmful to not only women and girls, but boys and men, and all transgender people too. We are what we all are gender wise (I& #39;m a pretty masculine het female myself) but for me the problem is the idea of gender itself.
I could care less about how anyone wishes to & #39;identify& #39; but lets stop pretending that it& #39;s not important to understand ourselves in the sex to which we were born, how this is & #39;experienced& #39; by each of us, and therefore forms the adult male or female that we become.
And a lot of how we experience our lives will be reflected in how we identify, whether this be stereotypically feminine, masculine or some variation of both (non-binary/gender fluid perhaps, although I prefer the terminology of & #39;gender non conforming& #39;).
I believe there are some people, for a variety of reasons, who do not feel comfortable in their & #39;observed at birth& #39; bio sexed bodies. They deserve our empathy and also any help we can give as a society (medically or psychologically) to make them feel at peace with themselves.
That however, will never detract from the fact that we are all born into a biological human binary (this also holds true for those born with DSDs). To tell anyone otherwise is to be dishonest and fundamentally harmful to their psyche/long term mental health and wellbeing.
Many of us have come together today (across the political spectrum I& #39;m sure) in solidarity with these beliefs and I would love to see that harnessed into a clear strategy for getting this across to those who legislate for us.
The various groups that have sprung up ( @Womans_Place_UK @fairplaywomen @ALLIANCELGB) have done amazing things to bring these issues to the fore. But we need cross party interest groups(and individuals), including those from the trans community) plus cross party political groups,
coming together to discuss this. Anyone refusing to engage with alternative viewpoints should, by default, be considered to be acting in bad faith and ejected from the conversation.
I& #39;m confident that this will not be the case for most on the GC/GNC end of the & #39;debate& #39; so it& #39;s over to the trans lobby to engage, and listen to opposing opinions, in order to thrash out a solution which works best for all. Suggestions as to how go about this are most welcome!
I need to go to bed now or I& #39;ll end up sacked for all the right reasons (not being able to do my job properly) rather than for the views I hold...awake not & #39;woke& #39;!!! Never forget, there is power in a Union...https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😎" title="LĂ€chelndes Gesicht mit Sonnenbrille" aria-label="Emoji: LĂ€chelndes Gesicht mit Sonnenbrille">
