especially those of reporters of color. If you find yourself questioning bias in my case, ask yourself if a journo who's been attacked by a stranger should be allowed to cover violence. If yes, why does it change when the person wielding the knife is a romantic partner?

With the help of a couple other staffers I was ultimately successful in keeping the woman's name out of the paper, thank god, but the victory would be held over our heads multiple times in the following months before I quit.
