If you’re after a UK-based adventure this summer, I’d really, really recommend a long distance walk. More specifically I’d recommend one in Wales. Here are some of the best I’ve trodden (THREAD 1 / 9)
The Cambrian Way

‘The mountain connoisseur’s walk’ – a coast to coast wander through all of Wales’s wildest spots. It’s a tough one, probably one of the toughest in the UK, but it’s mightily rewarding. (2 / 9)
The Snowdonia Slate Trail

Walkable within a week, this is a fascinating loop that explores Snowdonia’s history (and stunning landscapes). I found plenty of glorious wild swimming spots along this. (3 / 9)
The Beacons Way

An end-to-ender of the Brecon Beacons national park that takes in all of the famous viewpoints but also leads you to some real hidden gems as well. Another one that can be done within a week. (4 / 9)
Pembrokeshire Coast Path

Got to be on the list hasn’t it? I remember it as 2 weeks of sunshine, daily swims off secret beaches in clear blue water and lots of cider in lots of pubs. (5 / 9)
Offa’s Dyke

Walked this both ways and loved it each time. The waymarking is excellent so you can really wander without having to concentrate too much on navigation. Such variety of landscapes as well. Give yourself over 2 weeks. (6 / 9)
Anglesey Coast Path

Another good week of walking. I remember raging sea, beaches to myself, narrow clifftop footpaths, epic views of Snowdonia across the Menai Strait and very friendly people. (7 / 9)
The Epynt Way

This can be done over a single weekend. It goes around a very green upland landscape that's rich in birdlife and that feels somewhat forgotten. The army’s heavy presence adds a certain quirkiness! (8 / 9)
The Wales Coast Path

This was the greatest adventure I've had. A walk full of INCREDIBLE beaches, friendly people, great pubs (a lot of great pubs) and a real sense of freedom. You'll need a few months for this one, mind. Do it. (9 / 9)
Should say, I'd recommend these when it's safe and responsible etc. And when the weather forecast is good.
