This news about @/urdoingreat is a lot for me to take in, considering Gem is someone I *literally* grew up with. I mean like, we’ve spent multiple holidays together.

It’s all so, so bad and I’m so sorry to the survivors. I unfollowed & will no longer continue to support them.

I knew Gem since they were about 14? Maybe younger. So seeing this all come out is actually wild for me. And I’m talking to my friends and we can all attest that Gem did VERY questionable things to/around us. We were all so young and no one ever spoke up.

My family has spent thanksgivings at Gem’s family home. They’ve been to my family’s home. While Gem never did anything to *me* directly that I can recall, I have absolutely watched them make others uncomfortable when we were all minors. And I honestly feel so guilty now.

I was reminded this morning by my sister that during one of her birthdays in which Gem celebrated with my family, Gem forcefully sucked my sisters toes and my sister was screaming for her to stop, she didn’t. This was in a moving car btw. Gem was maybe 17/18 at this time.

I’ve seen some transphobia through this and even while holding them accountable, it is NOT okay to misgender them or be transphobic due to their actions. Their actions are absolutely horrendous, but there’s no need to be transphobic either.

Honestly it’s hard for me to do this because while Gem never physically assaulted me, they absolutely did bully me for YEARS and it was *brutal*. Our other friends have even apologized to me for allowing it to happen. I used to be terrified of Gem. We only reconnected last year.

They apologized to me for the years of bullying & acknowledged how severely damaging that was to me, so we were cool. But then in February this year when I last saw them—they jokingly brought it up again, something that they KNOW is traumatic for me bc I told them it was.

We used to have “basement roasting nights” which was Gem’s idea btw. And we would pretty much take turns roasting each other. Everyone else was usually playful. No one said anything *serious*. Gem would outrightly attack me during those & others would have to tell them to chill.

But anyway, I would like to see them deplatformed. That’s about all I can come up with right now honestly. I’m still processing all of this. To the survivors—I 100% believe you and I’m so incredibly sorry you had to endure that from Gem and see them gain popularity after.

Shit. Something else I just remembered. Gem used to make us uncomfortable as teens because they would CONSTANTLY pressure us to drink excessively and be absolutely shit faced around them. This continued into our adulthood. Talking with someone who also knows them very well.

I went to one of their rooftop parties a while ago in Brooklyn. I kept telling Gem that I need to drive back home to jersey and I was carrying a friend with me as well. They literally were forcing me to finish my drink and I was so uncomfortable. I hate being forced
