Reasons Why You Shouldn't Ask Idols To Say Things During Lives

This is going to be a thread about how fans often comment on idols' lives asking them to say specific things, and how it can be harmful.

1- Names

Asking an idol to say "hi y/n" during a live, more than crowding the comment section could be harmful for both sides.

The question of favoritism is always a problem, being it when an idol doesn't interact with international fans, or when they mostly interact with international fans.

Even though the overall fandom can be understanding after an idol says one specific name, it can be used against them by others, accusing them of not acknowledging certain fans because of this or that.

Simple acts can be easily taken to the wrong side as it already happened before with the words "me too", though I will not get into that matter.

Acknowledging one specific fan can bring up opportunities for people with bad intentions, or just people not willing to understand, to make up stories and unbased values.

Other than it being easily interpreted as favouritism, it can also become a burden for the idol, who feels the need to treat all fans equally.

And we all know they already feel a burden to bring us, fans, good content everyday. Wanting that extra burden on them is not plausible.

2- Countries

Same as names, it can be easily interpreted into favouritism, and bring a burden into idols.

3- Phrases

It's not uncommon to see people asking for idols to say whole sentences in another language in comments, which also crowds it.

This is probably the main reason why I decided to make this thread.

First off, mostly the idol doesn't understand the language in question, therefore it could be literally anything and they wouldn't know.

But even then, as it happens in media, they would be held accountable for what they said, even when they didnt meant it.

So, of course the idol wouldn't read such phrases in fear of it being something rude they don't understand.

Second off, phonetics. Phonetics in each language are very different, thus sometimes not even natives can understand it when a foreigner speaks their language.

If an idol simply reads the sentence, wrong phonetics might make it sound like an entirely different thing, and it would not be easy to find the comment as to free the idol of guilt.

A clear example would be the word 네가, when pronounced sounds very similar to the N-word, which already resulted in much hate towards Korean idols.

A simple mispronunciation could mean something entirely different, and probably damage the idol's image.

We have to always take into account how cruel social media is. They won't look at the full picture, and won't take their time to understand the idol.

It's just too many risks to take for something so simple.

So, before asking an idol to say anything, please think about the possible consequences.

And before being upset because they didnt read your sentence, think about what that might cause them and their fears.

Even though the fandom is understanding, social media isn't. So, please, let's maintain a healthy relationship with our groups.

And not become a risk for them.
