That crying bride has reminded me of a story.
In the early 90& #39;s, a cousin of mine who had been living with us went to visit her parents and help out at home in her S.4 vac. She must have been about 17 years old.

Back story, she was from my mum& #39;s side of the family. They& #39;re Banyarwanda (Balaaro) now Settled in Kyazanga. They have a culture of "Carrying"
When a family spots a young girl that they& #39;re interested in, the way lay her, kidnap her and take her to their home

They then go to her parents house to "report" themselves and bargain for bride price to make the marriage official. This is what happened to my cousin. She was "carried"
My mum was invited to the wedding and she wondered how Scovia who was so focused on books had chosen marriage over her education at 17 yrs of age. When they told her the story, she advised Scovia not to give her consent in church
A function like the one we saw here today was organized. Scovia cried the whole day! Infact she wept. However when the priest asked whether she wanted to get married she said she was ready.
She had been threatened by the father about disgracing the family. AND that he wasn& #39;t willing to take back all the cows that had been paid. So the priest officiated the function like the one in the video today!
So the marriage happened but Scovia was never the same again. In fact she died two years later.
In hindsight I think she got severely depressed by the whole thing and lost the will to live
