I’m going to start a new series to promote an understanding of systemic racism. Everyday I plan on posting about a topic which established, promoted, or continues to support the system of racism. Things that need to be acknowledged, addressed, and ultimately changed. #Eracism
We are going to start our discussion with the Stono Rebellion and the Negro Act of 1740 which was a byproduct of that slave Insurrection. The significance of these events is the origin of the idea that educating blacks is dangerous!
The purpose of this series is to introduce a historical event which in some way or another contributed to the institutionalization of racism and its consequent effect on our society. My intent is to spark curiosity that I hope will lead to discourse! #Eracism
I hope this series will encourage everyone to spend 5 to 10 minutes to think about each topic as it is introduced. History is a living breathing subject. Events from the past enables things in our current lives to exist.”History does not repeat, but it does instruct.” -On Tyranny
Today's Topic will deal with the issue of Slavery and Racism in the Constitution. The Founding Fathers were extremely crafty in their dealing with slavery or as labeled by Gouverner Morris one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence the "Nefarious Institution" #Eracism
It is important to note the term “SLAVE” can not be found in the Constitution, but the term, the defense, and protection of the institution of Slavery is noted in several areas as the purpose of the Confederacy in their Constitution!

The term Slave can not be found anywhere in Constitution but the reference to black people and Slavery shows up in 3 seperate clauses. Today I will introduce those clauses:
Article 1, Section 2 (3)
Article 1 Section 9 (1)
Article IV Section 2 (3)
